Menu for Change - making a difference in Torry

We’re excited to announce that we’ve recently partnered with Scottish Power and through their generosity and funding, we’ve been developing vibrant and meaningful projects to make a positive impact in our community.

Our main goal is to make a difference in the Torry area and improve the health and wellbeing of local residents who live near our community centre, the Bridge Centre. Through our Menu for Change project, we’ll be running healthy cooking classes, health and fitness events, community get togethers for Seniors and holiday lunch clubs for families.

Cooking Classes

We recently launched our healthy cooking classes which are run by our Community Café Manager. Students have been learning new skills that are helping them to grow in confidence in the kitchen and setting them up for a healthier, more independent future. We’ve been able to bless them with brand new kitchen appliances as a gift when they graduate.

Seniors Outreach

We also recently launched our Seniors outreach and every week, we welcome a group of over 55s for great food and great fun! Called Soaring Seniors, the get-together encourages our guests to build community, make new friends and enjoy activities such as singing, dancing and gardening.

Our group is open to anyone in the community who might need some community at The Bridge Centre, 258 North Balnagask Road, AB11 8LQ.

We also run the Reconnect befriending project, aimed at people over 60 who experience isolation or loneliness, where we match them up with a befriender who will help them set and meet goals.
